Puff Quilt
I can't quite remember when I became obsessed with the idea of sewing a puff quilt. Maybe it was when I saw how many half used bags of fiber fill I had in my storage room? In my usual fashion, I looked up as many ideas as I could find on Pinterest and YouTube first. I decided on the floral cross stitch pattern and mapped that out to a 14 x 14 block grid. I had most of the colors I needed in my stash except for the greens. I remember making a trip to Cosmic Cow for those. Then I cut the squares at an LMQG sew day. HERE is the puff quilt tutorial I followed from The Sewing Channel on Youtube.
Today I am thankful for my good friend Kristie from Sew Sunshine because she helped me get over the hump to finish the quilt today! This quilt is big and heavy so getting it through the machine in my home set up was difficult! That's why it's been sitting half done for awhile. I also ran out of stuffing somewhere along the way but Kristie saved the day and stocked me up with some more fiber fill that someone had donated to their church sewing group. Anyway! Kristie picked me up this morning and we went to her church basement where they have an area set up to make UGLY (Unconditionally God Loves You) quilts. I was able to get through sewing and stuffing the last five rows using the big tables they have set up. What a relief! It's finished and I LOVE IT! It's so squishy and really soft with minky on the back. It measures about 64" square. I can't wait to use it. It is so squishy and soft and satisfying!
