Scrap Challenge Scarf

Back in June, the Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild held a scrap exchange/challenge. Everybody brought some scraps and we dumped them on a long table. Then we all circled around the table in musical chairs fashion. We were supposed to walk around the table as the music played and then choose fabric scraps when the music stopped. It was a hilarious time, mostly because nobody was moving around the table. Instead, some people were standing there, admiring and touching the fabrics. After a stern reminder of how musical chairs works, we got going with the music haha! Everybody left with a bag of scraps that were to be made into a scrappy quilt by the September meeting.

I chose a mostly blue color palette along with a couple bigger pieces that didn't match the blue idea but I still liked them.

I promptly put my new scraps in a bag and lost them under a pile of stuff in my house for a couple months. Last week, I finally found them after searching for AWHILE and decided to get something made for the scrap challenge. I started making wonky log cabin blocks because my scraps were already mostly strips. I made six 10.5" blocks from my little bag of scraps.

I ended up making an infinty scarf with my blocks using this pattern and this pattern. The red plaid backing piece is another scrap from the exchange and I was excited that it was alllmost long enough for the scarf backing. A little bit of patchwork and it fit just right! I love the look of the navy with the pop of red!

This was a fun challenge for the guild! I'm looking forward to wearing this scarf when the weather cools off!
