24 Hour Vacation

My brother Chris and I headed down the road towards Kansas City. We saw lots and lots of corn.
And windmills.
This is the flooding Missouri River at St. Joseph.

We made it to Kansas City without any trouble. Hooray! Checked into the hotel and I immediately started goofing around while Chris looked up directions.

We saw the Fleet Foxes at the Uptown Theater. What a great show!

The next day, we spent some time in the 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District, going through the American Jazz Museum.

The museum had lots of interactive displays where we listened to music by several of history's jazz greats.
Next up, Zebedees Record Store. Chris has a vinyl collection, so we had to check this place out. He was pretty happy. I liked the Elvis cut out that is nailed to the outside!

This graffiti art was on the sides of the Evolution Audio building.
At this point, we were both really hot and thirsty, so we stopped for some lunch. Then we headed for home.

I had to take a pic of this sign, just because of the Oz reference! I had no idea there is a Home, Kansas.
After hours of nothing but corn fields, we needed a driving break. We stopped here, at Penny's Diner in Marysville, Kansas. Chris got a little pie with his ice cream! Feeling a little bit more awake after our little pit stop, we hopped back in the truck and headed North to Lincoln. We arrived home almost exactly 24 hours from the time we left the day before. A fun, fast trip!
